Salix is an insulated cup made to steep tea to perfection. Unlike other infusers, it has a mechanism to completely remove the bag or loose-leaf tea from the water. This drinkware is perfect for those who want to control how long their tea steeps while keeping it warm longer.
This product solves the problem that most tea infusers on the market have; leaving the strainer that contains the tea in the water. This causes the tea to steep for longer than it should, affecting the quality and taste of the tea. What I have put together is a hinged container on a simple slider that allows the tea to be lifted and lowered as needed. This allows for customization when it comes to how strong the tea is.
To use it, simply open up the lid to the strainer accessible from the top. Then, put your tea or other infused item into the strainer. This is snap-locked by a finger-sized clip. Once you close the lid, you can lower the strainer into boiling water by pushing the slide upward (towards the strainer access. From there you can monitor your tea, and remove it from the water whenever you like by pulling back the slider.
I had settle on the name Salix for the idea of the Willow Tree, known for its hanging branches.
