The Boys and Girls Club of Round Valley (BGCRV) lost their only play structure during strong winds this year. Eleven students from The Design School at ASU volunteered to design and install play equipment at the Round Valley Boys and Girls Club by the end of the summer.
The Research
The objectives of the first visit to the worksite was to catalog to area and interview the children and the community about what they would like in the park. We also visited a few local places in hopes that they will donate some supplies. After that we analyzed the data and came up with concept work that we should to landscape architects and park designers.
The Design
From the designs of the children and the community, we decided on a low play area for tag and running, a high play area for climbing, to remake their enclose ball game area, and sitting areas as recommended by the parents. After getting our final draft approved we began to gather material and construct what we can here at ASU. We were able to gather lumber, tires, poles, retired fireman hoses, and fixtures for putting it together form the local community. We brought it back to Eagar and put the park together over the span of a week.
